Five days and counting until me, Miller, and Miller’s mom, Vicky, will be making a trip to Manhattan to pick out our apartment, sign a lease, and seal the deal! Thinking about finding the perfect apartment, on a limited budget, in 5 days is completely overwhelming. My best friends, MC and Olivia, just got back from the city and said to look in Chelsea and ONLY in Chelsea, preferably near the Chelsea Market. In MC’s exact words, “De-stress by trusting your friends and only looking in Chelsea- it’s the place to be…done and done.” So, right now we are planning on looking heavily in Chelsea, even though it falls at #26 in NY Magazine’s most livable neighborhoods. Ultimately, we have to see and decide for ourselves, so I can not wait to see where we end up. The only other thing we are going to do during those 5 days is EAT! We have a whole list of restaurants that we have been wanting to try…Locanda Verde and Eataly are just a couple on our long list! The plan is to leave the city with a few extra lbs. and with a new place to call home! Hoping that “home” is not a a 5 floor walk up, with no dishwasher, no closet, and worst of all, no windows. But if that’s the case, we will make the best of it and make it work. Pictures of our new place to come soon… If anyone has advice or knows of anyone that can help in our search, please share! Any restaurant suggestions would be great too…

Hey Jana! I’m Katie Pavlick’s sister and also friends with Jennifer Miller! I can’t wait to see your adventure as you move to NY!!!! Thanks for sharing it all!!!!
Jana,
Hope your search for an apartment is going well. We just went through the rental process ourselves. A few websites I found helpful.
http://www.urbansherpa.com
http://www.nybits.com
http://www.streeteasy.com
Also, you should check directly with some of the rental agencies rather then a broker so you don’t have to pay a fee. If you need any neighborhood suggestions based on your budget let me know.
GL!
