New York, I love you. That’s basically all I can say after this week. The weather was perfect, I had lots of “this would only happen in New York” moments, and one of my best friends in the world- MC-  came to visit. What more can a girl ask for?! Here are a few pics!

In New York, you can meet someone extremely interesting every single day…if you are open to it. That’s one of my favorite things about this city. This week we met this amazing man, Frank, who makes and flies kites for a living. He has lived in New York for the last 40 years and had so many wonderful stories to tell- and he let me fly his kite! This is when he was teaching me his kite flying techniques…

This afternoon, Mary Catherine and I discovered the most amazing little family owned tea shop in the West Village. I smelled almost every loose tea in the store until I decided on the two I would take home. Can not wait to sip on the chamomile before bedtime tonight!

Our neighborhood butcher was born and raised in New York and he is also a chef, so naturally he is the person we go to for restaurant advice. This week he suggested a small Italian place on 13th street, Da Andrea, so we took his advice and checked it out. WOW. It’s casual, cheap, absolutely no frills, and delicious. I felt like I was back in Italy!!! I had the homemade veal and spinach ravioli, and it was to die for.

When Miller and I first moved to New York, we met an opera singer named Steven Cole in the subway. We ended up running into him again outside of a restaurant (Bar Pitti, which I totally recommend) and exchanging email addresses. I do not think we have ever come across a more joyful or interesting person. He has never driven a car – he rides a bike everywhere and when he travels around the world to perform, every opera house has a bike ready and waiting on him when he arrives. Check out this interview he did a couple months ago to read a little more about this extraordinary man. He told Miller this week that the main thing he values in life is “a large collection of friends.” How great is that?! Anyway, this week, we met up in the West Village so that Miller could take a few photos of him. You can tell by looking at these that this is one happy soul!
