I am a big believer in the importance of creating a relaxing environment for yourself at home, especially at the end of your day. I know that it’s wayyyy easier said than done. When things get busy and hectic, the last thing on your mind is probably yourself. I don’t have kids yet, but can’t even imagine how hard it is to create time for yourself once there are little ones in the picture. But, there are a few simple little things I do that send me into that relaxed zone. Whether it be a bath oil or lotion, putting fresh flowers in your bedroom, doing an at home facial, putting on a face mask and reading magazines in bed, a cup of nighttime tea, or even something as simple as lighting a candle…being intentional about creating a soothing environment can make the world of difference. (And I like to squeeze this face - I omit the olive oil from that recipe- and body scrub into the mix every so often if I have extra time)

For me, it’s all about smell. When I smell any sort of lavender or chamomile, I feel like I’m at a spa and go into a happy place. And I ALWAYS end up sleeping better when I’m in that relaxed space. Here are a few things that always get me there, no matter how crazy of a day I’ve had.

This chamomile lavender bedroom candle is AMAZING. A littttle pricey, but worth it.

Patchouli Lavender Vanilla Shower Oil

The cheapest and easiest ones of all- the Aveeno chamomile lavender body wash and body lotion are so GOOD.

I’m not a sleep mask person but I have heard this one is incredible. The mask is 100% silk with a velvet lining and there is loose dried lavender inside the lining so you get that soothing smell.

Pillow Mist

Sleepy time tea

I am not even going to try and act like I’m the perfect little homemaker who keeps fresh flowers in our apt all the time- I do happen to have some hydrangeas in the bedroom right now (thanks to a sweet best friend) – and they are making the world of difference. It really makes our apartment feel like a more peaceful place.

And I’m super interested…what scents do you find the most soothing??
